Soapstone Counter

The recent spate of warm & dry weather has inclined me to put off photo editing in favor of working a bit on the kitchen. The last we heard, Greg has installed the cabinets. But what, pray tell, is on top of the aforementioned cabinets? Lamely I answer, "The old counter." So what's the counter story? Well, the counters are to be soapstone with an undermount a sink and rounded edge corners.
Right before we left on our trip, I got the soapstone delivered -- 700 pounds of it. But then we were gone, and when we got back it was cold, whah, whah, whah. Not to mention I really don't know what I'm doing. So I hadn't done anything.
Cue the good weather.
With my best excuse gone, I had no choice but to go to the Home Depot to buy more things (every project needs a new tool). With a shiny, new, big 1 1/4" long router bit in my hands, I began the sink cutout. I traced then cut out the pattern in hardboard (the brown thing clamped in the pic) and used it as a template for the router. I gave it 3 passes so the bit wouldn't get overworked. Results are below. Next is rounding over the edge corners -- we'll see how the weather holds.
