Back from Yellowstone

Pebble Creek Campground

We're back from our travels in Wyoming. We went to Yellowstone, flying in & out of Jackson or Jackson Hole (not quite sure which). Everything went well, no particular crises arose. The RV thing was, uh, an experience -- one which I shall detail in a few days.

One of the qualities of Yellowstone is that it's so big and has such a breadth of activities within it, you can visit twice and have two very different trips. New things this time around:

  1. Heart Lake, Mt Sheridan, and Heart Lake geyser basin
  2. Shoshone Lake and Shoshone geyser basin
  3. the cowboy cookout via horseback ride (via stagecoach previously)
  4. Specimen Ridge petrified wood area
  5. all new lodging because we stayed in campsites
  6. and a minimum of the bad and overpriced Xanterra food

And even with the places we re-visited, things in Yellowstone don't necessarily stay the same.

  1. the trees in areas burned in the '88 fires were much taller
  2. much of Mammoth Hot Springs had run dry
  3. the ground of the Back Basin in Norris was cool enough to walk on this time around

I will post photos and write-ups beginning shortly -- so check back soon!
