Woman Cooking Breakfast Curry
At the start of our Annapurna Circuit, our bus had a flat on the way from Pokhara to Besi Sahar. The spare was also flat. So all of the trekkers got out of the undersized bus. Some waited by the roadside, some climbed a nearby hill. We decided to go into a small village, Prithvi Raj Marg.
Now as you ride through the Nepalese countryside on the way to begin your trek -- any trek -- you'll pass by small villages like this. And if you actually stopped at these villages, your already slow transportation is going to take a lot longer. But because of this accidental layover we stumbled upon a most delicious breakfast curry. This woman set up tables in the front room of her house and her kitchen right outside on the street. The kitchen had corrugated metal for a roof and stitched together rice bags (behind her in the photo) for walls.
The curry had a bit of heat and was easily the last good meal we had on the trek.
