Airplane above Ghorepani

In the center of this photo is an airplane. The airplane flew below us.

Usually, the folks who trek the Annapurna Circuit (AC) in Nepal end at Jomsom. But when we trekked the AC, we added on a few days at the end to see the rhododendron forests that flower in the spring. The village in this photo is Ghorepani. And the mountain rising behind it is Poon Hill, where folks hike in the dark morning to catch the surrounding mountains at sunrise. We, however, trekked in the opposite direction, toward Ghandruk.

Where I took this photo we're about 1000' above Ghorepani, which is surrounded by the sea of pink that is the rhododendron forest. The plane is the flight out of Jomsom, that most of the AC trekkers take.

It's a weird feeling, seeing a plane fly beneath you while standing on solid ground. I'm not sure when I'll see that again.
