Shoshone Geyser Basin
If you have the time and the legs for it, this hike is really a must-do for anyone who enjoys geysers. We did this ~18 mile hike in one long day. But if you have the time and inclination, stay in one of the backcountry campsites around the lake. There's a bit of a elevation going over Grant's Pass, but it's a negligible 300' of gradual slope. We left the parking lot at 08:00 and returned about 16:00 - and this included a good hour at the geyser basin, but we chose not to wait for Lone Star Geyser. Continue reading »
Upper Calf Creek - West
Calf Creek provides the biggest return on investment of all the hiking near Boulder, UT. It has two impressive waterfalls, it cuts a beautiful canyon, and it runs through some of the hardest landscape in the country. Coyote Gulch
GPS accuracy could have been a bit better in the canyon. No, we didn't jump around nearly as much as this twitchy track would suggest. And I even cleaned this up a bit.
Pacaya Volcano
When you need a change of pace from the ruined churches and general goings-on of Antigua, you can take an easy day-trip to an actual volcano. It's an easy hike and you have a very good chance of seeing actual real-life lava. Continue reading »
