Misc

Ah, election day. We'll just stay silent on this one.

New stuff -- check out recent photos of Zoe in the gallery.

Starting the next set of cabinets, pics to follow.

Birthday Cats

The cats are one year old today. We were going to throw them a big party, but they insisted on keeping any celebrations on an intimate scale. I suggested extra treats, which they seemed very lip-smacky over. In case you haven't been able to drop by the house, here's how they look:

So, now what

No more AOL, that's kinda wierd. But I've got 2 weeks before I start design working again, so now is House Project time! There's the matter of kitchen cabinets that I need to build (that's the biggie). I'll throw together some picture of my progress of that -- still need a couple of more supplies before I can start cutting the plywood. So what am I doing?

* pantry cabinet construction
* re-soldering downspouts into copper gutters
* putting Yellowstone trip in photos
* generic website work
* home office organization Continue reading »

Load 'em up, move 'em out

Yep, I'm leaving AOL. Doing so for a number of reasons -- some external to work, others internal. But I suppose the overriding reason is that it's been 9 years. Geez! Continue reading »

Easter Rockets

Saw this piece on the BBC world news last night. Easter on the Greek island of Chios is marked by rival churches firing home-made rockets at each other's church bells. Two thoughts about this: 1) my, *that's* wierd -- sufficiently wierd enough for me to wonder why I haven't heard of that before. 2) The footage of the rockets at night was surprizingly beautiful. Against the black night sky and the dim illumination of the medieval architecture, the dizzying number of the brilliant streaks across the frame took my breath away.

Spring Face Cleaning

Greg's Clean Face It's always interesting to note who notices that I've shaved. I've not been shaving since Christmas (it's not really enough to call a beard), and this weekend I shaved. Those who know me the least are always the ones who call it right off the bat, "You've shaved!" The folks who've known me for a long time just sense that something has changed -- haircut, new glasses, new medication.
I dislike shaving, so it'll go back to obligitory modern-white-guy goatee soon enough.

Picky Picky

I'm a do-it-youselfer. No matter what the task is, after careful thinking and consideration, I usually end up doing it myself. Running a new 220 volt circuit, building a tiles shower, putting together a web site. Surgery I'd shy away from -- unless it wasn't too deep. Then I could Google, library, & figure it out. I'm opinionated and cheap, er, frugal -- which gives me little alternatives in the doing. Continue reading »
