Location
Kantipur Temple House is a beautiful hotel, it's new construction made to look like one of the Nepali temples you'll visit in Kathmandu. And it's quiet, too -- a trait not to be undervalued in Thamel. It's located maybe a ten minute walk to the giant Carlsberg sign that marked the heart of Thamel for us. And the free drinking water was a big bonus.
Having said all that, I wouldn't stay there again. The staff, though pleasant and nice, did not have the warmth we found elsewhere in Nepal. Why? Dunno. It might have been the large size (48 rooms), the clientele (tour-groups), or the market (upscale). Although I'd wanted a bit of posh to balance out the spartan trekking accommodations, we found ourselves missing the folks from Sacred Valley Inn in Pokhara.
